Supporting people through hardship often means having conversations with people who are frightened, frustrated, angry or overwhelmed. Responding with compassion while managing your own emotions can be demanding, particularly when someone needs more help than you can provide.
Resilient Responders is practical, interactive training for frontline advisers and support workers. It explores how to handle difficult conversations confidently, reduce tension and set clear professional boundaries, alongside ways to protect your wellbeing during and after challenging interactions.
Adviser wellbeing runs throughout the course. Participants explore the emotional impact of supporting people in distress, recognise when stress is building and practise techniques to pause, reset and recover. We also consider the difficulty of working within limits, how to avoid carrying every conversation home, and the role of supportive teams in sustaining wellbeing.
Through realistic scenarios, group activities and personal reflection, participants develop approaches they can use in their everyday work.
