Multiply

Financial Wellbeing programme

Attending a Multiply programme workshop is a great way for your employees, volunteers, or community members, to improve their financial wellbeing skills and build their confidence in dealing with everyday money and maths.

What is Multiply and what will your staff learn?

Whether they want to learn to build a simple budget, dealing with credit, or look at their overall financial fitness, these workshops are the perfect opportunity to learn at their own pace and in an environment that is supportive and non-threatening. Along the way, Multiply is also designed to build practical skills in maths and bolster their confidence in that area.

The project is supported by the North East Combined Authority (NECA), meaning it is fully funded to employees of businesses in the North of Tyne area (Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside).

Society Matters training is designed and delivered by experts with acute front-end experience of supporting people. Our aim is always to give participants in our training and workshops the confidence to make their mark, and learn skills that will help them now and into the future.

Why you should host us for a workshop

Here are some reasons why you should host us at your premises to deliver our tailored Multiply programme training:

Multiply – Keeping up with the Kids

According to a study by the University of Sussex, students with highly involved parents were found to achieve higher grades in GCSEs compared to those with less involved parents.

This CPD-accredited course is specifically designed for parents and carers whose barriers to financial wellbeing may include lack of confidence in their maths skills.

Keeping up with the Kids can boost children’s numeracy skills through working with parents so children are better supported at home and parents can enhance their own skills.

What does Multiply – Keeping up with the Kids cover?

  • 3 sessions totalling 6 hours
  • All content is mapped to the primary-age National Curriculum
  • Content covers ‘4 main operations’ (add, subtract, multiply, divide) alongside other material like fractions, percentages
  • Course content offers parents the opportunity to get to grips with the maths themselves (with the support of an expert facilitator) to feel confident in supporting their children after the sessions
  • Opportunities throughout the session to discuss how they can introduce this to children or how they may be doing this already without necessarily being aware of it
  • Course also provides learners with a ‘pack’ of materials to support children (e.g. packs of playing cards that have addition/subtraction or multiplication/division card games they can play with children) that parents can take away with them – may not be possible with online delivery.
