Gaming: Play or Peril?

Gaming: Play or Peril
Gaming now focuses heavily on encouraging people to spend money while they are playing the game through ‘in app purchases’ which come in many different guises. For that reason, gaming is now being recognised as having crossed the line into gambling, leading to a normalisation of gambling for those may not otherwise have gambled and the obvious associated impacts on health, wealth and wellbeing.
What will you learn?
This interactive two hour workshop is designed to enable participants to understand the world of gaming, and to be able to support friends, family and colleagues to spot the potential detrimental impact gaming can have on their health, wealth and wellbeing. We will guide the group through a range of industrial specialist information through discussions, quizzes and real-life examples so they:
Understand the online gaming environment and the methods used to increase revenue
Recognise the risks associated with behaviour and mental health
Understand current UK gaming legislation and how other countries are approaching the issue
Are able to recognise gaming in the context of gambling
Understand responsible gaming practices
Know where to go for help and support
